| New autumn decoration on my burlap bulletin board. |
At summer's beginning I moved to a new office and became enamored with the magnolia trees that grow outside my window ~ especially the dark, glossy leaves and the unique stamen inside the huge white blossoms that I couldn't help gathering and drawing. Now the leaves are dropping on the paths and they are so beautiful! I picked some up and gave them a little extra color.
I don't know how long they'll last, but autumn is about changes and transitions, so it seems right that the autumn leaf banner I hung may not last too long.
If you'd like a painted magnolia leaf, send me your address at kimikobashi{at}ymail{dot}com and I will make one for you. Hopefully they don't dry too much on the way and arrive crunchy. I'll try to find the freshest dry leaves that I can. :)

I love these so much, such a great idea. You should get spray cans too, who knows what awesome results you might achieve ;) I really like the zig zag one that is my favourite.
I like the spray cans idea ~ can do several at once and also put something down underneath to create silhouettes of the leaves. I'll have to try it!
Thank you! They were fun to paint, too. Knowing they are transient, don't have to worry too much about making a complex work. Just listening to the leaf to see what it wants on it! :)

That's sounds romantic... :) I love how the leaves are impermanent and unreliable as a long-term canvas, but I'd hope my love letter would last longer!
I thought perhaps a classroom of children could each paint a few leaves. All strung together they'd be a long and beautiful garland. We'd need nice ribbon, too!
